As an avid listener and follower of DRA's writing & music, this is one of the finest recordings in the archive. "Sweet Lil Gal" and "The Shadowlands" are some of the very best versions around. Once again, and as always this is delicate precision, performed by a master of his craft.

Accidently, I stumbled upon this site. Boy I was thrilled to see that this concert can be found here. I was there that night! Ryan was awesome. His voice was brilliant. Also, he looked like he was completely drunk. He drank straight out of the (wine)bottle on stage. There was this strange tension the whole evening through, I constantly had the feeling that he could and would quit and leave, after each song. Obviously he didn't. Some folks sitting right behind me yelled stuff like 'play some music man!' when he was taking his time between songs. I was so afraid that he would be offended or destracted by that. Fortunatly, it did not seem to matter to him all that much. Jesse Malin was the supporting act. He was quite alright also. I'm thankful I can listen to this again, nearly a decade later. Cheers!

Sweet Lil' Gal/Ballad Of Carol Lynn
This is far and away the best version of 'Sweet Lil' Gal' I've ever heard. Ryan's voice during the entire show is so beautiful. It's one of those shows where nearly every high is hit to perfection, instead of shying away from really powerful takes, he stretches the boundaries of his voice and at moments takes it to heights I've never heard matched. Overall this is a wonderful show. Go to answeringbell.com and read the write up that someone who attended wrote. It adds to the vibe when you listen again.
Listening to the rest of this tour I realized he was either getting sick, or getting over being sick at this show. I forget which came first, but whatever happened to his voice on this particular night is a treat for us all.

One of Ryans best accoustic gigs
This is a really special performance. Fantastic to come back to this to compare the Cardinals version of I see monsters as a barnstorming end song on the recently completed 2006 tour - to this quiet stipped down acoustic version. Ryan is in good voice, the two accompanying strings lead to a spine tingling performance. And of course the songs are just wonderful. For other artists and recordings this would be a 5 star. But for Ryan Adams there are so many well recorded shows this is not quite the best. The SBD recording is first rate, there is hardly any audience (perhaps too little?), but who ever did the sound on the night is all over the place in terms of levels and reverb. You can fix some of this a bit yourself of course, and it's worth it. Definitely one that has been overlooked on here and worth going back for. Recommended.

Ryan Adams Live at 013 on 2002-12-01 (December 1, 2002)
Internet Archive and Ryan Adams are doing more for and to my soul than they may ever will be aware! Thank You All! This concert from December 2002 is maybe one of the best he ever played. What a brilliant SBD recording. Ryans voice and playing are just breath taking and the audience is super quite - enjoying ever note.
If you like the Glasgow Acoustic Gig - this one is the better one! And trust me - I LOVE the Glasgow concert heaps. My sincere thanks and respect to Ryan Adams
